The Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) has strongly condemned what it calls the judicial system’s continued use of delaying tactics in the legal proceedings against its senior leaders, who remain detained under the colonial-era Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO).

In a statement issued on Monday, the organisation said that its central organiser, Dr Mahrang Baloch, central committee member Sibghatullah Shahji, along with Beebarg Baloch, Beebow Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, and hundreds of others, have been arbitrarily arrested over the past two months and are currently being held in Huda Jail Quetta and various other prisons across Balochistan.

The BYC noted that legal petitions had been filed in court against these detentions, yet for two months, the judiciary has allegedly failed to provide timely justice. “The same bench has heard the case repeatedly, and on every occasion, the government’s lawyer has failed to submit any evidence or legal justification,” the group stated. “Despite this, the judge continues to delay delivering a verdict.”

The organisation added that another hearing took place today (Monday), but once again, the state prosecutor failed to provide any evidence. “In principle, our leaders should have been honourably released today,” said the BYC. “Instead, the bench once again resorted to delays—while ordering the release of other detainees held under the same law across Balochistan, it postponed the cases of Dr Mahrang, Sibghatullah Shahji, Beebarg Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, Beebow Baloch, and Mama Ghafar Baloch until tomorrow, instructing the state to present evidence by then.”

The BYC criticised the court for tolerating repeated failures by the prosecution and called the delays a sign of institutional complicity. “We believe this represents a total failure of the judiciary and clear collusion between the courts and the government. Despite the absence of any evidence, our leaders remain behind bars through nothing more than procedural stalling.”

The Committee has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all detained individuals and urged human rights groups, legal advocates, and civil society to speak out against what it described as a blatant misuse of law and a collapse of judicial integrity in Balochistan.
