Armed men reportedly seized a Levies station and blocked a key highway in Balochistan’s Kech district on Sunday, amid a surge in such incidents across the region.

According to local sources, dozens of armed individuals set up a checkpoint on the highway between Hoshap and Turbat, stopping vehicles and inspecting passengers. During the same operation, the group took control of the Hoshap Levies Station and confiscated government-issued weapons from the premises.

In a separate incident in Dera Bugti district, a large number of armed men reportedly set up checkpoints on the main highways connecting the region with the rest of Balochistan and Sindh on Sunday. The road between the Lanju and Gopat areas was among those affected.

Meanwhile, another group of armed men entered Adal Khan Colony near Sui city, patrolled the local market, and detained an alleged operative of Sarfraz Bugti’s private militia—commonly referred to as the “Death Squad”—before taking him with them.

Elsewhere in Balochistan, authorities closed the road near Sheesha Hotel in the vicinity of Bela due to security concerns. Officials urged the public to use alternate routes and to follow safety instructions.

A similar attack was reported on Saturday night in the Grid Bazaar area of Mand, where unidentified armed men allegedly attacked a police station at around 8:30pm.

The attackers reportedly seized all weapons and equipment stored at the station before releasing the police personnel unharmed after issuing a warning.

No group has claimed responsibility for any of the attacks. However, such attacks are frequently attributed to Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups, which have intensified operations against Pakistani security forces and alleged state collaborators in recent months.
