The Baloch Students Organization (BSO) has condemned what it calls the “unlawful arrests and false FIRs” against political activists, terming them a violation of fundamental human rights and an attack on freedom of expression. The organization has demanded the immediate release of students arrested during a protest at Sindh University and the withdrawal of charges against them.

According to the BSO spokesperson, students at Sindh University staged a peaceful demonstration on March 4 against the construction of six canals from the Indus River, which they claim is part of a military-backed Green Pakistan Project aimed at seizing Sindh’s water resources. The protest also opposed the militarization of educational institutions. However, the university administration and police launched a crackdown on the demonstrators, resulting in the violent arrest of several students, while others were reportedly injured due to police brutality.

BSO denounced the state’s actions, describing Pakistan as a “military-controlled unnatural state” facing institutional, political, and economic crises due to its inability to address natural social contradictions. The organization asserted that the state’s reliance on violence and coercion to suppress dissent has made it increasingly fragile and vulnerable to existential crises.

The BSO reaffirmed its solidarity with Sindh Saagar Sabha and other progressive nationalist student organizations, vowing to stand with them against state aggression, the alleged plundering of the Indus River’s water, and the militarization of academic institutions.
