The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a “pro-independence” Baloch armed group, has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy in Balochistan’s Kalat district, stating that nine Pakistani soldiers were killed and five others injured.

In a statement released on Saturday, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that fighters from the group used a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) to target a pickup vehicle within the convoy in the Dasht Mehmood area of Kalat.

According to the BLA, the explosion killed all five personnel inside the vehicle. The fighters then reportedly launched an assault on other convoy vehicles using automatic weapons, which the group claims resulted in four additional deaths and several injuries.

The spokesperson also reported a separate attack on September 28 in Pasni, Gwadar, where BLA fighters targeted anti-narcotics personnel with a grenade while they were gathered in their camp compound. The BLA’s statement claimed this attack caused casualties and material damage.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Pakistani military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), regarding the BLA’s claims. However, local police officials in Kalat reported during the attack that a roadside bomb had detonated near a military convoy, killing three soldiers and injuring four others.
