A 42-year-old man has died of the Congo virus in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, raising the total number of deaths attributed to the virus in Balochistan this year to five.

Dr. Ali Ahmed, the Medical Superintendent of Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital in Quetta, confirmed that Muhammad Iqbal was admitted to the hospital on Thursday night. Tests were conducted immediately, and treatment to prevent the spread of the virus was initiated.

Dr. Ahmed said that the test results, received on Friday morning, confirmed that Iqbal was infected with the Congo virus. Despite efforts to treat him, the patient passed away during Friday prayers due to his critical condition.

After completing the necessary formalities, the patient’s body was handed over to his family. Hospital sources also confirmed that two new cases of the Congo virus have been reported in the past 48 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Balochistan this year to 21.
