A miner was killed in an accident at a local coal mine in the Dukki district of Balochistan on Friday.

According to rescue sources, Syed Mohammad, son of Abdul Karim, lost his life in a landslide at the coal mine. He was immediately shifted to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The deceased miner was an Afghan national.

Rescue sources added that, following necessary procedures, the body was sent back to his native Afghanistan.

It is important to note that dozens of coal mining projects are currently operating in Balochistan, where thousands of workers from both Balochistan and other regions have been victims of similar accidents on various occasions.

Labor unions and organizations advocating for workers’ rights in these coal mines attribute the frequent accidents to inadequate facilities and the use of substandard materials provided to the workers.
