Five policemen lost their lives, and two others sustained critical injuries in a collision involving a police mobile van and another vehicle on the Quetta-Karachi highway near Uthal, Lasbela district. The incident occurred on Monday, the officials have confirmed.

According to reports, the accident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Uthal police station. The police van overturned after colliding with a car on the infamous Quetta-Karachi highway, often dubbed as the “killer highway” due to the sheer number of accidents it witnesses every year. Three policemen reportedly died at the scene, while two succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital.

The injured officers were transported to Karachi for further medical care, while the bodies of the deceased policemen were sent to their respective hometowns for final rites. Authorities have reportedly initiated a search operation to identify and apprehend the occupants of the other car, although the progress remains unclear.

The dead policemen have been identified as Nadir s/o Anwar, Muhammad Rafiq Ronjha, Saleh Muhammad, Irfan Ronjha, and Rashid. The injured officers are Mola Baksh Khaskheli and Muhammad Ali Ronjha.
