Seven individuals, previously missing, have been released and have returned to their homes. These individuals were reportedly detained by Pakistani forces from the Kech district of Balochistan at various times. Meanwhile, another man has allegedly been detained from Dera Bugti.
Reports indicate that Dawood Abdul Wahab was released last night and has since returned home. However, his friend Shehzad Ubaid, who was detained with him, remains missing. It’s worth noting that Dawood and Shehzad reportedly disappeared from Zamuran, and their families participated in a sit-in protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
In addition, four family members — Waseem Hassan, Ijaz Sheran, Saleh Tariq, and Imtiaz Iqbal, residents of the Aapsar Kolwahi Dan-E-Bazar area — were arrested from their home on May 17th of this year. They have now returned home. Their family also took part in the sit-in demonstration in front of the DC office. The family reports that young Saleh Baloch and his friend have become mentally weak due to severe torture.
Furthermore, Abdul Basit, son of Abdul Wahab, who reportedly disappeared after his arrest on July 13th, 2021, from the Apsar area of Turbat city, was released on June 6th.
Simultaneously, Hayat Baloch, a resident of Absar Turbat, who went missing on May 11, 2024, was also recovered on June 7th. A few days after Hayat Baloch’s disappearance, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) announced his arrest. The Baloch Solidarity Committee (BSC) has confirmed Hayat Baloch’s recovery.
Despite the release of these seven individuals, another person has reportedly gone missing from the Sui area of the Dera Bugti district of Balochistan.
The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), an organization advocating for the safe recovery of “Baloch Missing Persons,” stated that on June 7th, Pakistani forces allegedly detained a man named Khairullah, son of Murad Bugti. His whereabouts remain unknown. VBMP has called for Khairullah’s immediate safe recovery.
According to VBMP, the long series of enforced disappearances by Pakistani forces continues in Balochistan, with dozens having forcibly disappeared in recent days.
On a related note, Hifza Baloch, sister of missing Changez Baloch, has appealed for her brother’s safe release. She stated that her brother was forcibly detained on January 11th, 2014, and remains missing.
She further emphasized that forced disappearances are a violation of human rights and that Pakistani forces are continuously committing this crime in Balochistan. She criticized the silence of “Human Rights Organizations” on enforced disappearances in Balochistan, equating it to complicity in this crime against humanity. She mentioned that Zakir Majeed Baloch has been missing since June 8, 2009, and despite 15 years passing since his forced disappearance, he is still missing. His elderly mother continues to fight for her son’s recovery despite her illness.
