Unidentified individuals targeted the house of an election candidate with explosives in the Kech district, while in another development, armed men shot dead a member of Jamiat Ulema Islam in the Surab district of Balochistan.

According to reports, unidentified individuals targeted the house of Fida Hakeem Rind with explosives in Balochabad town, Mand tehsil of Kech. However, the details of the incident have not been revealed yet, and neither the district administration nor the police have given any statement in this regard.

Local sources told TBP correspondent that the aforementioned man belongs to a state-backed militia, locally known as “death squads”. However, TBP couldn’t independently verify the allegations.

In another incident, unknown armed men shot and killed Haji Abdul Hameed Mengal, a member of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JuI) in the Surab area of Balochistan.

Meanwhile, a “pro-independence” Baloch armed group, Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for the attack on the Election Commission office in Turbat city of Kech district.

In a media statement, the group’s spokesman, Major Gwahram Baloch, said BLF militants targeted the Election Commission’s office in Turbat with a grenade while a policeman was killed in retaliatory firing inside the office. The BLF spokesman claimed to have seized the weapons of three policemen in the attack and also released photos of the seized weapons.

Mjr Gwahram warned of more attacks against the election campaign and appealed to the people to refrain from contesting the state elections.
