At least six policemen were reportedly killed in a deadly road accident in Khuzdar city of Balochistan on Saturday.

According to details, six policemen were killed and one injured in a collision between a police van and a truck on RCD Highway near the Wadh area of Khuzdar. The deceased belong to Hub town of Balochistan.

The police personnel were on their way to Hub from Quetta after training in Surab. Meanwhile, the dead bodies and injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.

The Quetta-Karachi Highway is notorious for the high number of road accidents it witnesses every year. The highway passes through Khuzdar and is not doubled, with bridges broken at multiple places. Additionally, there are no medical facilities or centers along the highway. Despite the presence of motorway police, drivers are often seen flouting traffic rules and regulations.

The high number of road accidents on the Quetta-Karachi Highway has earned it the nickname “The Killer Highway” in Balochistan. Despite repeated appeals to the authorities, no action has been taken to improve the condition of the highway, making it a death trap for commuters and travelers.
