Baloch asylum seeker who was found dead in Baku, Azerbaijan, was laid to rest in his hometown of Basima on July 15. His dead body was flown from Baku to Lahore where it was handed over to his family members.

Baloch asylum seeker Saqib Karim was found dead in the ocean on the Shikh Beach in Baku, Azerbaijan, on July 8. The Azerbaijan officials have termed his death an “accident” and closed the case.

Baloch nationalist groups argue that the death of Saqib Karim emulates the death of two other Baloch political activists, Karima Baloch in Canada and Sajid Hussain Baloch in Sweden. The Baloch National Movement (BNM) said that these “mysterious” deaths of Baloch activists abroad follow a suspiciously similar pattern. BNM appealed to the Azerbaijan government to thoroughly investigate the death of Saqib Karim.

The dead body of the deceased asylum seeker was flown from Baku to Lahore where it was handed over to his family members. He was brought to his hometown, Basima, overnight where he was buried on Friday.
