Maulana Hidayat Ur Rehman, the leader of the Haq Do movement, said that the Pakistani security forces are complicit in drug trafficking in Balochistan – they are facilitating the traffickers. He said that the forces are harassing and frisking innocent civilians on their checkpoints, but they let the vehicles carrying drugs pass through. Thanks to them, hundreds of thousands of people are addicted to drugs in Balochistan.

Maulana Hidayat Ur Rehman held a demonstration on the Sayad Zahoor Hashmi Avenue in front of the police station in Gwadar. Addressing the gathering, Rehman said that security forces are involved in the drug trafficking business in Balochistan. They allow free and fluid movement to the drug-peddlers throughout Balochistan which is causing a serious issue of substance abuse among the Baloch youth.

He said that the people involved in drug trafficking are the ones who conduct rallies and demonstrations on 23rd March and 14th August. The Pakistani generals think that these people – who are actually criminals – are the real patriots of this country. Mount the Pakistani flag on your vehicle and you can traffic drugs without hindrance, he said.

He said that Pakistani Coast Guards stop and frisk innocent fishermen on a daily basis, but the drug-peddlers traffic drugs under their noses. He said that we deplore this system where criminals shake hands and sip tea with the men in power.

He said that the authorities must take concrete steps to put an end to drug trafficking, and if they don’t, we will expose their true faces to the public. He said that we remember the Gwadar Ko Haq Do Movement, and if the government fails to act within the given time period, we will carry out the million march to Quetta.
