The scheduled test match between Afghanistan and Australia for November 27th has been postponed, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed on Friday.

ACB CEO said the postponement decision has been made upon a mutual agreement between cricket boards of the two countries. “Our one-off test against Cricket Australia is postponed as a result of an agreement between the boards. We will discuss and decide how & when to go ahead with the test in our next meeting.”

ACB said the postponement gives Afghan players some extra time to work hard and prepare themselves for the match.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press has reported that Cricket Australia has confirmed the postponement of its first-ever test match against Afghanistan due to a reported ban on women’s cricket in Afghanistan.

According to AP, Cricket Australia has announced it would have ‘no alternative’ but to scrap the one-off test following reports that women’s cricket would be banned in Afghanistan following the political change in August 15.

“Following extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders, Cricket Australia and the Afghanistan Cricket Board have agreed to postpone the inaugural men’s test match,” cricket Australia said in a statement.

Cricket Australia has said it is committed to support the game for women and men in Afghanistan adding it felt necessary to postpone the test match until a later time when the situation is clearer.
