Six soldiers were killed and seven others wounded as a Frontier Corps soldier opened indiscriminate fire on his companions in the FC checkpoint in tehsil Dasht of district Kech on Thursday. 

According to the sources, an FC sepoy named Shareef opened fire on his fellow soldiers in FC check post in Balingor area of tehsil Dasht as they had gathered to eat food. 

Six soldiers were killed in the firing. They were identified as Sergeant Ghulam Dastageer, Sepoys Ahmed Nawaz, Bilal Hussain and Mohd Shahbaz, Naik Mohd Ashram and Lance Ghulam Fareed. The wounded soldiers were: Naik Noor Khan, Sepoys Mazahir Hussain, Riaz Hussain, Ali Raza, Sajid Sarwar and Nawaz, and non-commissioned soldier Nadeem Abbas. One of the soldiers, Nadeem Abbas, is said to be in critical condition. 

The motive behind the firing is unknown, and the authorities have not yet commented on the incident. The Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of Pakistan’s military, is yet to officially recognize the incident.
