An opposition legislator of Balochistan Assembly staged a unique protest inside the house in support of protesting government employees in Quetta. Zahid Reki, an opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly took off his clothes in the support of protesting employees.

“This government is blind, it must quickly address the grievances of employees”, Mr. Reki lamented during the assembly session.

The session of the Balochistan Assembly resumed here with Qadir Nail in the chair. The legislators discussed issues relating to Balochistan including power outages and the protest of government employees.

Government employees have blocked all the roads leading towards Red Zone. The Zone houses Governor’s house and Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Blockade of roads caused worst traffic jams in the city. The employees have been protesting for last 3 days.

Mr Reki asked “where is the tradition of this province”? while taking off his clothes. Reki elected as a member of the provincial assembly from Washuk area of Balochistan. He belongs to the Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (F), a mainstream opposition party.

The employees have been demanding permanent jobs and 25 percent increase in their salaries. The demand turned down by the Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan-led government.

The government has placed police on a high alert to maintain the law and order situation in the city. The administration has put containers, barbed wires to stop the protesters from the protest outside the CM and Governor’s houses.
