Few days after a man went missing, his son has also been taken away by security forces.
According to details, Pakistani security forces raided a house few days ago in Soorab, a town in Balochistan, apprehending a person identified as Mohammad Shareef. He was then taken to an undisclosed location.
Yesterday, Mohammad Shareef’s shop located in Soorab market was raided and this time his son, Samiullah, was taken. He has not been heard of ever since.
According to locals, Pakistani security forces have installed several new checkpoints in the town, and strict checking takes place. Locals have complained that they are held for hours on these checkpoints for no apparent reason.
Enforced disappearances in Balochistan have continued unabated for last two decades. Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), an organisation striving for the recovery of missing persons, has been protesting against the enforced disappearances in Balochistan and different parts of Pakistan. The organisation claims tens of thousands of Baloch are held incommunicado by Pakistani intelligence agencies.
