Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) President Jam Kamal Khan has been elected Balochistan chief minister on Saturday.

The new chief minister would take the oath of his office at Governor House on the Sunday evening.

Jam Kamal defeated Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal candidate Mir Yunas Aziz Zehri, securing 39 votes. The MMA and BNP Mengal received 20 votes.

Newly-elected Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo chaired the session that elected the chief minister.

Kamal is the third person from his family to be elected as Balochistan Chief Minister.

His grandfather Jam Ghulam Qadir had remained Balochistan CM in 1972, 1985 and his father Jam Yousuf in 2002 under the military dictatorship of General Pervez Musharaf.

According to the Analysts, hidden forces had always played a role in the selection of Jam family for the leader of the house, and the formation of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) was the continuation of the same legacy, and to restrain the outspoken nationalists from ruling the province.
