A bomb attack in border town of Chaman in Balochistan killed a District Police Officer (DPO) on Monday.
The attack, which authorities now say could have been carried out by a suicide bomber, targeted DPO Abdullah Sajid Mohmand’s vehicle. Mr. Mohmand along with his official bodyguards and several civilians was injured in the attack.
However, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police found a badly damaged motorbike near the attack site, which authorities believe was used by the suicide attacker.
Security forces and ambulances immediately rushed to the area and cordoned off the crime scene.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of filing this report. However, Taliban militants have remained active in Chaman, a sensitive town that borders Afghanistan, since fall of Taliban government in Afghanistan.
