A delegation of social and political workers visited VBMP (Voice for Baloch Missing Persons) camp in Quetta on Thursday.

While talking to the delegation, Mama Qadeer, The vice chairman of VBMP said that, United Nations (UN) has considered the enforced disappearance a crime against humanity. The International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance compels States to fight enforced disappearance on their respective territories. But Pakistan on other hand is openly busy in abduction, torture and killings Baloch people.

“Since 2001, thousands of Baloch people have been forcefully disappeared from Markets, Passenger buses, Houses and educational institutes by Pakistan forces. Scores of women, children and elderly are included in missing persons”, he said.

Whereas, a missing person Saddam Baloch’s family has appealed for his safe release through the VBMP platform. Family said that Saddam Baloch s/o Abdul Sattar was abducted by Pakistan intelligence services from Kharan, on 2 September.

The camp set up by VBMP also completed its 3706th day, protesting for the release of missing persons.

The term ‘Missing Person’ is widely used in Balochistan for the persons who have been allegedly picked up by security forces and are not presented before the court of law and instead kept in military camps.

According to Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), the campaign group by families of victims, more than 40,000 Baloch men, women, and children are under Pakistani custody.

VBMP also alleges that at least 5,000 missing persons have been killed and dumped over last one decade.
