Houthi rebels claim capturing thousands of Saudi troops

Houthi rebels have claimed that they have captured three Brigades of Saudi forces near Saudi-Yemen border.

The Houthis’ military spokesman said in a statement that three “enemy military brigades had fallen” in the attack, which he said was launched 72 hours ago and supported by the group’s drone, missile and air defense units.

Houthi-run Al Masirah TV quoted the spokesman as saying the Iran-aligned movement had captured “thousands” of enemy troops, including many officers and soldiers of the Saudi army, as well as hundreds of armored vehicles.

All those captured would be paraded on the Houthi-run Al Masirah TV network on Sunday, he added.

Yemen has been at war since 2015, when President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi and his cabinet were forced to flee the capital Sanaa by the Houthis – which hold much of the north of the country.

Saudi Arabia backs President Hadi, and has led a coalition of regional countries in air strikes against the Iran-aligned rebels.
