Two women and three men were killed in an incident of so-called honour killing in Dera Murad Jamali on Tuesday.

According to the details received by the Balochistan Post, the incident occurred in Goth Ghulam Qadir town of Dera Murad Jamali where armed men opened fire at a house killing five people including women.

Sources claimed that it was an incident of honour killing, which resulted in the death of two women and three men.

Later, the deceased were identified as Manzoor Ahmed, Rahim Dad, Haibat Khan and Naila, whereas, the fifth name could not be ascertained immediately.

All the dead bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital of DMJ, where further investigation is underway.

According to the UNO report on honour killing, every year about 5000 women are killed in the name of honour in the world.

The reports of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan HRCP and NGOs working in Balochistan for human rights and woman empowerment said that approximately 76 women braved violence only in 2016 in which 36 women, mostly teenage girls, lost their lives in the notorious saga of honour killings in Balochistan.
